Earlier today Facebook announced that the company was releasing Places-powered Deals to the U.K. and Europe. Along with the launch of the product, the social network announced a number of partners, including Starbucks, Yo Sushi, Mazda, O2, Argos, Debenhams, Alton Towers and Benetton.
So far Facebook has been relatively silent about the performance of the Deals product, despite the large amount of attention it garnered. Thereâs no doubt that the social network  is hoping to dramatically increase the inventory of active Deals in their Places system as that could help boost usage of the companyâs Places product. While Facebook Deals is clearly a buzz-worthy product, weâve heard little from businesses about usage of the service.
Facebookâs Places and Deals products are still relatively new. Deals was first announced back in November when Facebook enabled a limited number of businesses to begin posting deals on the site. While the service will now be available throughout Europe, we believe that not all businesses are able to create Deals just yet. Instead, the product is undergoing testing while the site expands distribution.
Weâll be sure to follow-up as the product expands over the coming weeks and months.
